Central Valley Area Health Education Center

Central Valley AHEC (CVAHEC) addresses the shortage and maldistribution of healthcare professionals by:

    • Partnering with academic institutions to connect students to meaningful community-based clinical training experiences for health professions students and residents;
    • Providing educational opportunities for the current and future primary care workforce;
    • Recruiting students from minority and disadvantaged backgrounds into health careers;

The CVAHEC is part of the national and state AHEC system and serves 20 counties in the San Joaquin Valley, Sacramento Region and Northern California.

CVAHEC offers the following services and programs:

    • ‘Growing Health Leaders’ High School Healthcare Career Conferences
    • Stanford Youth Diabetes Coaching Program
  • AHEC Scholars (application)
  • Continuing Education for Healthcare Professionals
